(Amended schedule) Two remaining WebEx test windows will be available on Saturday, May 8th, and Monday, May 10th. I hope this will allow you all an opportunity to test the computer(s) on which you will be accessing our Team meetings to iron out challenges, including district firewalls. Time constraints will not allow us to offer these test windows again.
Please note: Your next meeting will be held on WebEx.
There is a tutorial available for your review before you join this test window. It is the first item linked at the left on the page titled "A to Z for NGSSS-Arts--Getting Started."
To test and use your headphones and microphone when you get into WebEx, click on the button in the pop-up window that allows you to join using your computer/headset. If you have difficulties and are not able to speak and/or hear anyone when you get into the site, try the following:
Work quietly and, once you learn there's a sound issue, work silently and WATCH THE CHAT WINDOW. We may be able to hear you!
Look to the left of your name on the Participant List (upper right of the WebEx screen) to be certain the headset icon appears there.
Go to the "Audio" tab on the top-line menu, then "Volume," to be certain your mic and headphones are not muted.
Check to be certain your computer speakers are not muted.
If you have an in-line volume control on your headset, make certain it is in the "On" position and set at an adequate level.
Look for the Chat Window in the lower right-hand corner of the WebEx window and type a message into the open line right below the Chat Window, then hit "Send" or--on your keyboard--hit "Enter." Be certain it is going to "All Participants."
If you still can't hear/speak or can't use the Chat Window, please e-mail me at Linda.Lovins@fldoe.org Include your phone number so I can call and talk you through the challenge.
You may join WebEx sessions on your iPhone.
You may access WebEx sessions by phone while viewing the WebEx screen - this is a toll call.
For active Writers' meetings, please try to join the meeting as much as 10-15 minutes early to make certain everything is working. You can then mute your mic and do other work until the meeting begins. This will allow you to check your tech without disturbing the meeting after it has begun.
One last recommendation: If I've had anything running on my computer that includes video or audio, both of which seem to require Java script, I re-boot my computer before I enter the meeting. If in doubt, re-boot!
*Please note:
Access Codes for each WebEx window are unique to specific windows. A link for one test window will not work for another.
You will need your computer-compatible headset for this test and all WebEx calls unless you choose to use a phone. Please note that WebEx phone calls are toll calls. iPhones can be used to access WebEx meetings without incurring toll charges.
